Kyoto Working Papers on Area Studies is a series published jointly by the four area studies institutions on Kyoto University campus: the Center for Integrated Area Studies (CIAS); the Graduate School for Asian and African Area Studies (ASAFAS); the Center for African Area Studies (CAAS); and, Center for Southeast Asian Studies (CSEAS). Faculty members, young scholars and graduate students affiliated with these institutions are all welcome to contribute a paper in this series. Since the beginning of the Global COE Program in July 2007, of which all of the 4 area studies institutions are members, we have begun a G-COE Sub-Series for Kyoto Working Paper Series on Area Studies.
